The Presidential Green
Engineering Awards were held
again this year in
Washington DC this past
June. This is a competitive
awards program, administered
by the Environmental
Protection Agency and
sponsored in part by the
American Chemical Society,
provides national
recognition for
incorporating the principles
of green chemistry and green
engineering into the design,
manufacture, and use of
chemical products and
processes to help achieve
federal pollution-prevention
goals.
Commercial Fluid Power was
recognized for developing
and promoting Nitro-tuff
tubing and bar products.
Nitro-tuff tubing and
bar products are an ECO
friendly alternative to
standard chrome plated
products.
The waste product from
nitriding is WATER.
One of the significant
developments in the world of
nitriding is the ability to
now coat stainless steel.
This has been done by
tight atmospheric controls
and can now replace chrome
plated stainless steel
products without any loss of
corrosion to the base
material.
